The official PAXG contract address
The PAX Gold contract address on Ethereum is 0x45804880De22913dAFE09f4980848ECE6EcbAf78. This is the canonical PAXG token, issued by Paxos Trust Company, N.A. since the launch in September 2019. It is a standard ERC-20 token with 18 decimals, so it works with almost every Ethereum wallet, exchange and DeFi app.
Why does a contract address matter so much? Because names and tickers are free to copy. Anyone can create a token called “PAX Gold” with the symbol PAXG. The address is the only thing that cannot be faked. If the address differs, even by one character, the token is not backed by Paxos gold. Our PAX Gold safety review explains how fake tokens are used in scams.

A few of these lines need context. The contract is a proxy: the address you hold stays the same, while the logic behind it can be upgraded by Paxos. The current logic, PaxosTokenV2, is the same code family Paxos uses for its dollar stablecoins. It has no transfer-fee code, which is why the old 0.02% on-chain fee no longer applies. You still pay Ethereum gas on every transfer. The supply figure is a dated snapshot that we read directly from the contract; for live market data, see our PAXG price page.
How to verify PAXG on Etherscan
Etherscan is the public explorer for Ethereum. Checking a token there takes about a minute, and it is worth doing before your first deposit to any new wallet or exchange.
First, open the PAXG token page on Etherscan and compare the address in your browser bar, character by character, with the one above. Second, look at the profile: the name should read PAX Gold, the symbol PAXG and the decimals 18. On 12 October 2026 the page showed 88,522 holders, which is far more than any copycat token. Third, open the Contract tab. You will see that it is a verified proxy pointing to the PaxosTokenV2 implementation.
Finally, check your own position. Paste your wallet address into Etherscan’s search box and open the token holdings list. If a “PAXG” there links to a different contract, it is not the real token, even if your wallet shows a price for it. Do not try to sell or approve suspicious tokens; some are designed to drain wallets when you interact with them.
PAXG on Solana
On 25 June 2026, Paxos launched official PAXG on Solana. It uses the Token-2022 standard, and it went live alongside Sunrise DeFi. You can move PAXG between Ethereum and Solana through the Paxos platform or through the LayerZero Stargate bridge. That bridge uses a burn-and-mint design: tokens are destroyed on one chain and created on the other, so total supply does not double. LlamaRisk reported a bridge rate limit of 4,440 PAXG per 24 hours in each direction.
There is one gap you must handle yourself. Paxos’s launch post does not publish the Solana mint address, and several Solana tokens use the PAXG name. LlamaRisk flagged at least one non-Paxos token using the symbol, and wallet directories list more than one address. We are therefore not printing a Solana mint here. Confirm it on paxos.com or with Paxos support before you buy, receive or bridge Solana PAXG.
Two more Solana details matter. Your wallet must support Token-2022; older wallets may not show the balance. And Token-2022 has a transfer-fee extension: it was set to 0 basis points in August 2026, but the authority to change it is still live, so a fee could in theory be added there. Our PAXG wallets guide lists wallets that handle both chains.
All PAXG networks at a glance
The table separates official deployments from tokens you may still find in wallets and explorers. “Use it?” is our recommendation as of October 2026.
| Network | Status | Standard | Use it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ethereum | Official, canonical | ERC-20, 18 decimals | Yes |
| Solana | Official since 25 Jun 2026 | Token-2022 | Yes, after verifying the mint |
| Solana (Wormhole-wrapped) | Legacy bridge token | Wrapped SPL | No |
| BNB Smart Chain | Inactive per Paxos | BEP-20 style | No |
| Harmony | Stranded (old OFT V1) | Bridged | No |
| Arbitrum | No official deployment | Bridged, if any | No |

Legacy, inactive and unofficial versions
Some older PAXG tokens are still around. A Wormhole-wrapped PAXG exists on Solana from before the official launch. A version on BNB Smart Chain exists, which Paxos calls inactive. An old Harmony token from an early LayerZero bridge version (OFT V1) is stranded. None of these is an official current Paxos deployment, and none is redeemable with Paxos as PAX Gold.
What about Arbitrum? We found no official Paxos deployment there. A 2024 audit note mentioned an “Arbitrum PAXG”, most likely a bridged token. Bridged tokens depend on the bridge operator, not on Paxos, so you take on bridge risk on top of issuer risk. If you search for “PAXG BSC” or “PAXG Arbitrum” because an exchange offers it as a withdrawal option, pause and ask what token you would actually receive.
Network fees: what moving PAXG costs
Paxos charges no on-chain transfer fee in the current code. Network fees still apply: gas in ETH on Ethereum and a small fee in SOL on Solana. Ethereum gas changes minute to minute, so check a live gas tracker before you send. Remember that you need a little ETH in the same wallet to move PAXG at all. A wallet holding only PAXG cannot send it.
Here is a hypothetical example to show why size matters. If an Ethereum transfer cost $2 in gas and you moved 0.01 PAXG, worth about $42 on the 12 October 2026 CoinGecko price, the fee would be almost 5% of the amount. Moving 1 PAXG for the same $2 is under 0.05%. For small amounts, batch your transfers or consider Solana. Exchanges also set their own withdrawal fees, which can be higher than the actual gas.
Ready to hold the real token?
Buy PAXG, then withdraw it on Ethereum to a wallet you control and check the contract on Etherscan.
Which network exchanges use
Ethereum (ERC-20) is the standard withdrawal and deposit network for PAXG across exchanges. Solana support is newer and uneven. We could not confirm, as of October 2026, which exchanges offer Solana PAXG withdrawals, so check the network selector on the withdrawal screen every time. If you see an option labeled BEP-20 or BSC, be careful: that is not an official Paxos deployment.
The golden rule is to match networks at both ends. If you withdraw on Ethereum, the receiving address must be an Ethereum address that can hold ERC-20 tokens. If you send ERC-20 PAXG to a Solana address, or to an exchange deposit address for a different network, the funds may be lost or require a slow manual recovery. Send a small test amount first. Our PAXG exchanges list and how-to-buy guide cover deposits and withdrawals in more detail.
Adding PAXG to your wallet
Most Ethereum wallets show PAXG automatically once you receive it. If yours does not, add it as a custom token. In MetaMask, Rabby or similar wallets, choose “import token”, paste the contract address 0x45804880De22913dAFE09f4980848ECE6EcbAf78, and the wallet should fill in the symbol PAXG and 18 decimals. If it fills in different details, stop: you may be on the wrong network or using the wrong address.
On a hardware wallet, PAXG sits on your Ethereum account. Ledger Live and Trezor Suite both support PAX Gold; our Ledger PAXG guide walks through it step by step. For Solana, use a wallet that supports Token-2022 and add the mint only after confirming it with Paxos. Once your PAXG sits in a self-custody Ethereum or Solana address, you can also use the Paxos lookup tool to see the serial numbers of the bars behind it, as explained in our gold backing guide.
Note that adding a token to a wallet only changes what the app displays. It does not create or move any tokens. If you imported the wrong contract, simply hide it; the real PAXG balance is unaffected. Our guide on PAXG yield options covers what you can do with the token once it is in your wallet.
Questions people ask
What is the official PAX Gold contract address?
The official PAXG contract on Ethereum is 0x45804880De22913dAFE09f4980848ECE6EcbAf78. It is an ERC-20 token with 18 decimals, issued by Paxos Trust Company, N.A. Any Ethereum token called PAXG at a different address is not PAX Gold.
Is PAXG an ERC-20 token?
Yes. Ethereum is the canonical network for PAX Gold, and the token follows the ERC-20 standard. It also supports EIP-2612 permit and EIP-3009 signed transfers. Since 25 June 2026 there is also an official Solana version using the Token-2022 standard.
How many decimals does PAXG have?
PAXG on Ethereum has 18 decimals, the same as ether. If you add the token to a wallet manually and it asks for decimals, enter 18. A wallet that fetches the details from the official contract will fill this in automatically.
Is PAX Gold on Solana?
Yes. Paxos launched official PAXG on Solana on 25 June 2026, on the Token-2022 standard, with bridging through the Paxos platform or LayerZero Stargate. Paxos did not publish the Solana mint address in its launch post, and several look-alike tokens exist, so confirm the mint on paxos.com or with Paxos support before you buy or receive it.
Is there PAXG on BSC or Arbitrum?
There is no official Paxos deployment on BNB Smart Chain or Arbitrum as of October 2026. A BSC version exists that Paxos calls inactive, and any Arbitrum PAXG would be a bridged token outside Paxos’s control. Paxos names only Ethereum and Solana as official networks.
