Convert PAXG to grams, tola and local gold units

How to use the calculator

Type an amount, pick the unit you are starting from, and choose a currency. The weight results work offline because they are fixed math: one PAXG always equals 31.1034768 grams of fine gold. The money value appears only when your browser has fetched a fresh PAXG price. If it cannot, that line stays hidden rather than show an old number. You can start from any unit. Enter "10" and choose grams to see how much PAXG matches a 10-gram bar. Enter "1" and choose tola to see a tola in PAXG and in rupees. The tool assumes pure gold for every unit except the Thai baht-weight, which it treats as 96.5% gold, because that is how Thai bullion is sold.

Troy ounce, gram and the “other” ounce

Gold is priced in troy ounces. A troy ounce is 31.1035 grams. The ounce you meet in a kitchen or on a parcel label is the avoirdupois ounce, which is 28.3495 grams. The troy ounce is about 9.7% heavier. Mixing them up is the most common mistake people make when they compare PAXG with a gold price quoted somewhere else.

PAXG uses the troy ounce, and specifically a fine troy ounce. "Fine" means the weight of pure gold, not the weight of the bar. Paxos backs each token with gold from London Good Delivery bars, which weigh roughly 350 to 430 ounces each. Your share of a bar is measured in fine gold, so 1 PAXG is 31.1035 grams of gold content. Grams and kilograms are the everyday units in Europe, Turkey, Indonesia and Brazil. One kilogram is 32.15 troy ounces, so a full kilo bar matches about 32.15 PAXG. A 100-gram bar is about 3.215 PAXG, and a 10-gram bar about 0.3215 PAXG.

Tola, baht, chỉ, don and tael

Tola (India). The tola is 11.6638 grams, exactly three eighths of a troy ounce. That makes the math neat: one PAXG is 2.6667 tola and one tola is 0.375 PAXG. Indian jewelers often quote per 10 grams instead; 10 grams is 0.8574 tola, or 0.3215 PAXG. Baht-weight (Thailand). Thai bullion is traded at 96.5% purity and priced per baht-weight of 15.244 grams, with the Gold Traders Association price as the local reference. A baht-weight bar therefore holds about 14.71 grams of fine gold. Divide 31.1035 by 14.71 and you get about 2.11: one PAXG carries roughly as much pure gold as 2.11 baht-weight of Thai bullion. Chỉ and lượng (Vietnam). One chỉ is 3.75 grams and ten chỉ make one lượng, also called a cây or tael, of 37.5 grams. So one PAXG equals about 8.29 chỉ, one chỉ equals about 0.1206 PAXG, and one lượng equals about 1.2057 PAXG. People searching "giá vàng PAXG 1 chỉ" can get there with one step: multiply the PAXG price by 0.1206. That figure tracks the world price, not the SJC price, as we explain below.

Don (South Korea). The Korean don is also 3.75 grams, so the chỉ numbers apply: 8.29 don per PAXG. Korean gold shops quote per don, and the KRX Gold Market quotes per gram.

台錢 and 台兩 (Taiwan). Taiwan uses the same 3.75-gram unit, the 台錢 (qian or mace), and the 台兩 (tael) of 37.5 grams, which is ten 台錢. One PAXG is 0.8294 台兩. Do not confuse the Taiwanese tael with the Hong Kong or Chinese tael, which have different weights; our calculator uses the 37.5-gram Taiwanese and Vietnamese definition. Gram altın and çeyrek (Turkey). Turkish savers buy gram altın, which is 24-karat gold sold by the gram, and çeyrek altın, a 22-karat quarter coin. For gram gold the math is direct: one PAXG is 31.10 grams of 24-karat gold, so the PAXG/TRY price divided by 31.1035 gives a rough lira price per gram. A 22-karat item is about 91.67% gold (22 of 24 parts), so multiply its stated weight by 0.9167 to get fine grams before you compare it with PAXG. More on lira pairs in PAX Gold in Turkey.

Worked examples

Weights are fixed, so these hold at any price. 0.01 PAXG is 0.311 grams. 0.1 PAXG is 3.110 grams, 0.267 tola, 0.211 baht-weight or 0.829 chỉ. A quarter PAXG is 7.776 grams or exactly two thirds of a tola. Half a PAXG is 15.552 grams, slightly more than one baht-weight bar in fine gold (1.06 baht-weight).

Money values depend on the live price, so here is an example with a round number. If PAXG traded at $4,000 (an illustration, not a current price), one gram would be worth about $128.60, one tola $1,500, one chỉ or don about $482.26, one lượng about $4,822.61, and one Thai baht-weight bar at 96.5% about $1,891.81. Swap in the live figure from the calculator and the same ratios apply.

A buying example: suppose you buy 0.1 PAXG at that illustrative $4,000 with a 0.5% exchange fee. The gold costs $400, the fee adds $2, and you receive tokens representing 3.11 grams. Why local gold prices differ from PAXG

Run the calculator in your currency and compare it with a shop price, and you will rarely get a match. That is not a calculator error. PAXG follows the international wholesale price of London gold. Retail gold in most countries adds premiums, making charges and taxes, and some markets are partly cut off from world prices.

Vietnam: the SJC premium. SJC gold bars have traded well above the world price for years. Viet Nam News and The Investor reported a premium of about VND 13.5 million per tael in late 2024, about VND 20 million in May 2025 and about VND 17 million in January 2026. We have no verified figure after January 2026. PAXG carries none of that premium, which cuts both ways: it is cheaper gold exposure, but you cannot sell it back to a Hanoi shop at the SJC price. South Korea: the kimchi premium. Gold on the KRX Gold Market has at times traded far above international prices. Korea JoongAng Daily reported a premium above 20% in February 2025 and about 18.6–20.5% in October 2025, with KRX issuing warnings. PAXG/KRW on Bithumb is priced by local crypto supply and demand, so it can carry its own premium too. See PAX Gold in South Korea.

India: GST, making charges and exchange gaps. Physical gold in India carries 3% GST, and jewelry adds making charges on top. PAXG/INR is a different case. On 12 October 2026 the last trade on CoinDCX’s PAXG/INR market was roughly 4–5% above the global price converted into rupees, depending on the exchange rate used. That is a snapshot, not a rule, but local premiums are common in markets with tight capital rules. India also taxes PAXG as a virtual digital asset: 30% on gains plus 1% TDS on each transfer.

Indonesia: Antam and the buyback spread. Indonesians compare PAXG with Antam Logam Mulia bars and Pegadaian gold savings. Antam bars sell with a gap between the buying and buyback price, and in January 2026 Antam said it could meet only 40–50% of demand. On the crypto side, PAXG/IDR on Pintu was within about 1% of the converted global price on 12 October 2026, and sales on domestic licensed platforms carry a 0.21% final income tax. Turkey: işçilik. Coins and bracelets bought from a jeweler carry a making charge (işçilik) and a buy-sell spread, so a çeyrek usually costs more than its gold content. PAXG/TRY has an exchange fee and spread instead, but no making charge.

What the calculator leaves out

The value shown is gold at the global PAXG price. It does not include the exchange fee and spread you pay to buy or sell, any card or bank deposit fee, network fees to move tokens, or tax. It also ignores Paxos fees, which only matter if you create or redeem PAXG directly with Paxos. Redemption to dollars costs 0.125% to 0.50% depending on 30-day net redemptions, and physical delivery needs at least 430 PAXG, a whole London bar. Currency conversion is another small source of difference. When CoinGecko answers, the local value comes from its own conversion of the PAXG price. When it does not, the calculator uses daily exchange rates, which can lag fast-moving currencies such as the lira.
